About the 150th

The planning for the 150th Anniversary of Weld County was more than a year in the making. Numerous dedicated volunteers from across the county gave their time to participate on committees, work on boards, research topics and organize the events that will highlight the anniversary celebration. Without the work of these volunteers, the 150th celebration would not be possible.

Proof 7The county held a 150th Anniversary logo-design contest in 2009 which open to Weld County employees. The winning logo, which appears on this site and on county documents for 2011, was created by Weld County Public Works employee Nick Marquez. Read about Nick and his design in “Marquez’s Mark” in the Your Stories tab.

The goal of this site is to provide a glimpse into Weld County’s vast history. The volunteers serving on the research committee and the web committee have diligently worked to pull together information for this site. We hope you enjoy the articles and hope that you consider submitting your historical stories to help us build the site and share Weld’s history with the world.
